Scythe is a worker placement/economic engine board game in which players take the role of a character from one of the five factions of Eastern Europa. In order to win, players must acquire the greatest fortune at the end of the game. Several factors come into how much a player accumulates such as controlling an amount of territories, resources and popularity. At the beginning of the gamt with power, coins, combat acumen, a starting location and a hidden goal unique to each faction. Players will then select actions in order to start their conquest; they can enlist new recruits, reap resources, gain villagers, build structures and activate monstrous mechs to keep enemies at bay. During the course of the game, players will be able to upgrade actions to become more efficient, build structures, improve their position on the map, enlist new recruits to enhance character abilities, activate mechs and expand their borders to reap greater types of quantities of resources. Because of this almost every aspect of the game is engine-building, giving you almost complete control of your own fate!
Scythe is recommended for 1-5 players, ages 14 and up.
